We looked after the roads and car parks at The Game Fair, one of the UK’s biggest countryside events, held at Ragley Hall in Warwickshire. It has run for over 60 years and brings well over 100,000 visitors to the Ragley Estate across three days.

The challenge
Ragley Hall is a rural estate with narrow approach roads and little permanent parking, so the event relies on large temporary car parks on grass, whatever the weather. Visitors arrive in heavy morning peaks and leave together each evening, while exhibitors need clear routes throughout.
Ragley is also a working estate, with other activity going on alongside The Game Fair, so the entry routes had to change during the event to suit the needs of both the estate and the client.
What we did
Crowdsafe UK ran the traffic operation for all three days. We worked closely with the estate and the organisers, so the routes always matched what was happening on site.
We used signs that could be changed quickly, so drivers were guided onto the new route without confusion when the plan changed. Our team directed cars into the parking areas and filled the car parks in a sensible order. We kept routes clear for emergency vehicles and ran a controlled exit at the end of each day.
The result
About 30,000 cars were guided in, parked and sent home again over three days, on narrow country roads and grass car parks. Emergency routes stayed clear throughout. Entry routes changed when the estate needed them to and this meant the organisers could concentrate on running the event.
